The Brennan Center for Justice: Advancing Democracy, Equal Justice, and the Rule of Law

Building an America for All

The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law is a nonpartisan law and policy institute dedicated to building an America that is democratic, just, and free for all. We stand for equal justice and the rule of law, and we work to uphold the values of democracy through our research, analysis, and advocacy.

Nonpartisan and Independent

As an independent nonpartisan institution, the Brennan Center is not affiliated with any political party or candidate. We base our work on evidence and analysis, and we strive to provide objective and nonpartisan information to the public and policy makers.

Data-Driven Reform

The Justice Program at the Brennan Center advances data-driven, innovative, and practical legal reforms. We use data to identify systemic problems in the criminal justice system and develop solutions that are evidence-based and effective.

Advocacy and Litigation

In addition to our research and analysis, the Brennan Center also engages in advocacy and litigation to protect and advance our mission. We work with policymakers, elected officials, and grassroots organizations to promote policies that uphold the rule of law, protect civil rights, and ensure equal justice for all.

Building an Equitable and Just Society

The Brennan Center believes that every American deserves a fair chance to succeed and that everyone should be treated equally under the law. We work to build an America where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or economic status.
