Algeria's Imane Khelif Secures Swift Victory in Tokyo Olympics Boxing

Algerian Athlete Triumphs in 46 Seconds

Khalif's Dominant Performance Stuns Opponent

Algerian amateur boxer ʾĪmān Khalīf has made a remarkable start at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, securing a lightning-fast victory in her opening bout. Representing Algeria in the 66kg category, Khalīf faced Italian Angela Carini on Thursday, August 1, 2024.

The contest lasted a mere 46 seconds before Carini was forced to retire. The thrilling encounter began with a series of swift punch exchanges, but it was Khalīf who took early control. Her relentless jabs proved too much for Carini, who opted to end the fight rather than risk further punishment.

Khalīf's victory marks a significant milestone for Algerian boxing and underscores her exceptional talent. She joins fellow Algerian boxer, Taiwans Lin Yu-ting, in making her second Olympic appearance. Both athletes enter this competition determined to showcase their skills and bring glory to their respective nations.
